DC Photo Shoot Off – Take Your Best Shot!

Weekend of March 14-16 Following the MilPhog Judging

The DC Photo Shoot Off is a two-category still photo competition. First category is open to all military photographers and DoD civil service photographers working in military units; and the second category is for active and veteran graduates of the advanced military photojournalism program of Syracuse and RIT.

Two Categories of Eligibility

The Hackman Challenge – Named in honor of Ken Hackman. Open to all military photographers and DoD civil service photographers in a military unit.

The Egnor Cup - Named in memory of Russ Egnor. Open to all active duty and veteran alumni of the Advanced Military Photojournalism Program of Syracuse and RIT.

Itinerary

Friday Afternoon: Check-in and registration. One subject matter will be picked by drawing and shot by all photographers. Naval Media Center, Pulley Theater, 1400. There will guest speakers starting at 1500. (Registration will be open until 2000.)

Saturday: Shoot off starts from sunup to sundown. Meet for imagery download and editing at Naval Media Center. Special invite to professional commercial photographers to provide editing and mentorship guidance. Advanced photographers are encouraged to assist and mentor competitors for finalizing their imagery. Burn to CD and turn in for Sunday judging.

Sunday morning: Judging and awards. 0800 – 1300, Naval Media Center, Pulley Theater.
Community Judges and Mentors: Prominent Civilian and military photographers.

Registration fee: $20 for E5 and above and $10 for E4 and below.

T-Shirts: One for each competitor.
